Chillin’ Out

That is what I have been doing all weekend.

Just relaxing, chilling and healing.

001

I spent a lot of time laying at and on Mommy’s feet while she worked.  She said she had some collar orders to fill, so I gave her plenty of time to work on them.  The worst part was the “cone” I had to wear.

002

This morning, Mommy talked to Dr. A (my vet) and he said Mommy could start to treat me like “normal”.  So, I am wearing my head collar and leash so Mommy can keep me from chewing my owies.  I can still chew my bones and play with my toys, but Mommy won’t have to sit right next to me to make sure I don’t bite at my stitches.

I should get my stitches out on Thursday!!!  Mommy and I can’t wait.

For today….. I just plan to chill some more.

My Many Faces!

003

This is my sad face!  I use it a lot!  On Saturday, when this photo was taken, I was using it to get some of Mommy’s apple slices that she was eating at the time.

008

This is my goofy face.  I use it when I want to make Mommy laugh.  I roll around on the floor and rub my paws over my nose and Mommy giggles.

003

This is my confused face.  Mommy sees this when I just don’t understand what she wants me to do.

018

And this is my happy face.  I think this is the one that Mommy likes to see the most.  She says it makes her feel warm, happy and loved.

I love making faces, don’t you?

Puppy Kisses,

Tanner

P.S.  Mommy wanted me to remind everyone that today is Memorial Day here in the United States.  Please take a moment to remember our Veterans and what they have done for us.  Welcome Home!!

Look What Popped Up! And a health update!

Last weekend, something in my back yard changed.  When I went out in the morning to do my “business” everything was as it always was.

016

This is what the big white thing that I pee beside always looked like.  And it looked just like this that morning.

Then, Mommy and Daddy took me in the house and put me in my crate for a nap.  When I came out, it looked like this:

018

When I first saw it, I was a bit taken-aback.  But I was willing to walk up to it and check it out.  Mommy opened the door and showed me the steps and I climbed right into this big thing.

003

First, I sniffed the rug.  Mommy said it was in the kitchen area.

001

Then I checked out the dinette.  I really liked that place, so I crawled underneath.

004

Mommy, Daddy and Meg (she does not want me to call her MR anymore) brought lunch out and we ate there.  This was the perfect place for me to get treats.

006

I really liked it under the table.

010

I might even be willing to sleep here.

007

So, if you guessed that I was under a table, you were sort of right.  I was under the table in the dinette of our camper which Mommy and Meg call “Pop”.

011

After the meal, I got to check out where my people will be sleeping.  This is Meg’s bed.  She sleeps by the kitchen.

014

And this is  what I will see if I watch Mommy sleep.  I can’t possibly get up on the beds.  I can’t at home anyway, so this should not be too much of a change.

018

I will probably end up sleeping here, in the middle of the floor.  Or maybe I will sleep under that table.  I guess I will have to wait and see what feels best when the time to go camping comes.  I’m not sure when that will be.  I’ll let you all know how it goes when it happens.

Health Update

I saw my vet again this morning.  Last night, my owies started to do some bleeding.  Mommy has been putting warm towels on them several times a day.

The vet said that the bleeding is actually cerosanguinus fluid.  In other words, it is the stuff that needs to come out!  He said that what I am having is normal and my owies look good.

Mommy and Daddy will be doing the warm towels and peroxide stuff 3-5 times a day till I am all better.  And the vet said he will call to check on me during the weekend.

I am very active and frustrated that I can’t do what I want.  But Mommy and Daddy (and Meg) are taking really good care of me.

Thanks everyone for your prayers and well wishes.  Please keep them coming.

Puppy kisses,

Tanner

I’m Back!!

I gave Mommy and Daddy a big scare on Wednesday night!

I know I told you that I had to spend the day at the VET on Monday.  Mommy says I had something called a ‘neuter’ with something called a ‘cryptorchid’.  Basically, it means I have two incisions instead on one.

I really like to lick my owies, so Mommy put me in a cone when she can not watch me.

Mommy didn’t like the cone a lot because I could not see and kept running into her.

So, on Wednesday, she went and got this for me to try.

001

This is an inflatable collar.  And I also got a great granola chew.   It had a bit of rawhide in the center, and the good news is that this time I didn’t get sick from the rawhide.

The bad news is, I still could reach my owies.  So Mommy had to put the cone back on.

Well, on Wednesday night, I started to have some icky drainage from my top wound.  Mommy and Daddy rushed me to the ER Vet 45 minutes from home.  They checked me out and said I had an infection.  They gave me two shots and some pills to take and sent me home to see my vet in the morning.  Dr. L said I would probably need surgery to clean out the owies.

Mommy and I slept on the floor together because she was afraid that even with the collar, I could still get to my owies.  Neither Mommy nor I slept a lot on Wednesday.

Thursday morning, Mommy tried to reach our Vet.  It was his day off, so the receptionist told us to call another vet in the area.  Dr. J was really nice.  He looked at my owies and also said I would probably need surgery to clean out my owies.  But Mommy said she would rather wait, if we could and try some medicine with me.  Dr. J. gave  Mommy two medicine and sent us home to rest.

Mommy and I slept most of the day laying on the floor in the living room.  Then, at bed time, Mommy made a bed on the bedroom floor again and slept beside me.

We saw my vet this morning.  Dr. A. said I looked really good!!  My owies are not swollen nearly as much and everything is healing well!!!  So, he sent me home with no surgery!!!  I am still taking all the medicine.  But I am eating like a horse and moving all over the house.

So, to all of you, this might just seem like another picture of me.  But to Mommy, it is the best picture she has seen in a long time!!!  She said she loves to share her breakfast with me!  And boy do I love apple slices!

003

I still have to wear the cone when Mommy can’t watch me, but I am doing a lot better.  Thanks everyone for all your great thoughts and prayers!

And tomorrow, I will tell you where my “Wordless Wednesday” photo was taken.  You all had such fun guesses.

I’m not feeling in top form today!

I think I mentioned at the end of yesterday’s post that I was spending the day at the vet.  Well, everything went fine (according to Mommy).  But today I am just not feeling myself.

004

I am a bit sore in my tummy area and because I can’t stop licking my owies, I have to wear this when Mommy can’t watch me.

So, please excuse me for not posting a long post today.  Hopefully I will be 100% tomorrow and I can tell you about what “popped up” in our backyard this weekend.

001

For now, I think I will just take a nap under Mommy’s table and let her work on my new leash.

Tanner

I Passed! And got to go on a Picnic!

Yes!  It’s true!  On Saturday, May 21, 2011, I, Tanner Charles, passed my Canine Good Citizen Test!

CGC paperwork

Here is the paperwork to prove it!   Mommy and I worked really hard.  She was so happy, she went home and ordered me a new tag that says I am a Canine Good Citizen!  I was just happy to get the last of my puppy cakes for lunch!

013

We took some time to rest in the early afternoon.  Then we packed up and headed for my first picnic.  It was at a place called “the Cottage”.  Apparently, Mommy and Daddy have been there many many times before and had lots of fun.  They were excited, so, I got excited too.

annie

When we got to the cottage, I discovered that I had a new cousin.  Her name is Annie.  She was an anniversary gift from Uncle D. to Aunt J.  They had just gone to pick her up.  She is a rescue dog.  She is really happy, but really shy too.

janet and annie

Here’s a picture of Aunt J. with Annie.  (Annie is short for Anniversary!)

003

We had a good time at the cottage.  Daddy and Aunt J. talked and shared some photos with each other while I ran around on the porch.

005

And Annie curled up by my water bowl and took a nap.  I remember how tiring it can be to come to a new family, so I let her sleep.

008

Later in the day, we got to see some geese walking down by the creek.  There were two big ones and 4 small ones.

011

I got really excited to try to see them!

010

I had a lot of fun at the picnic.  But by the time they turned the pretty light on, I was worn out.  So I curled up on a mat and took a nap.

013

And so did Annie!

015

Today, I am at the vet for the day.  I am not sure why, but Mommy says it will be okay and she will be back to get me soon.  I’ll let you know what happens when I get home.

Birthday Treats

If you missed yesterday’s post, you missed the fact that it was mine and Mommy’s half birthday.  I turned 6 months and Mommy added 6 months to her age.

We did a lot of celebrating.  Here is how we ended the day.

012

The Puppy Cake on the left is mine!!! It is COVERED with yummy whipped cream!!!  Boy, do I love that stuff.

And on the right is Mommy’s ice cream sundae.  She said it has lots of chocolate in it, so she can’t share with me.  That is why she gave me my own.

013

I woofed this treat down too!

I had a really fun half birthday.  Can’t wait to be one year old.  I wonder what great things Mommy and I will do on that day?

Happy Birthday To Me !

Today, I am 6 months old!!!  Today is Mine and Mommy’s half-birthday.  Yes, can you believe it, I was born on Mommy’s birthday.  So we get to celebrate together.

010

Mommy spent part of the morning in the kitchen.  I know what happens when she is there.  Yummy things happen.

005

Today, she was baking “Lucky Paws” for me for my birthday.*  Mommy says she made the carob kind and used peanut butter in the recipe.  She said they were super easy to make.

011

They smelled super good when they came out of the microwave.  I could not wait to try them.

But, I had to wait till lunch time.  And wowzers was it worth the wait.   Look what I got in my bowl!!!

001

Cake AND Ice Cream!!!

Mommy frosted my Lucky Paws with cream cheese and the “ice cream” she made several days ago using this recipe. **

002

You can tell I am getting older because I was able to “stay” long enough for Mommy to get this picture.  (Note:  I am eating in the dining room!  It must be a special day.  I don’t get to do that often.)

003

When Mommy said “ok”, I went straight for the cake!  I think I ate it in three bites.  Mommy says she only saw a crumb after I first touched the bowl.

Then I put the whole Ice Cream treat into my mouth and started to devour that.

So far, this has been a really yummy birthday!  I know there are still two more of those cakes on the table.  I wonder when I will get to eat those??

Puppy Kisses,

Tanner

Photos

I started Clicker Tricks training last night.  Mommy says I did really well.  But I am a bit tired.  So today I just want to share some photos of my new collars with you.

004

This is a version of Mommy’s “Stars and Stripes” pattern that she customized just for me!

003 (3)

And this one is called “Pumpkins.”  She does not have the pattern ready yet.  She just made the first one and put my name on it.

I can’t wait to wear them.  Mommy says there is a leash coming to match the “Stars and Stripes” collar too!!!

Mommy loves to make collars for puppies.  If you would like to have her make one for you, you can contact her through the link on the right side of my blog page.

007

And here is a better picture of me doing my new trick –Paws up!.  I am learning to stay once I get in position.

Hydrants taste like Ham

Remember a while ago, Mommy got a whole bunch of new cookie cutters?

002

I was really excited because this meant new treat were coming.  Unfortunately, Mommy got busy with some other things and waited a week or so to use the new cutters.  Don’t worry, I didn’t suffer.  When Mommy bakes, there are lots of treats.

001

Well, the other night, Mommy decided to do some baking.  She made me some more Black and White cookies.  Then she got out the cutter that looks like a fire hydrant.

Mommy used a different recipe for these cookies.  Here is the link to the recipe Mommy used.  http://www.dogtreatrecipes.org/dog-biscuits.html

Mommy used Ham with Ham gravy in these cookies.  The smelled really good while they were baking.

But how do they taste, you might ask?

002

I was not sure what I was getting.  But I sat like a good boy.

003

When Mommy gave me the cookie, I made it disappear.

004

I could not eat it all in one bite, so I dropped a small piece on the floor.  But I grabbed that up really fast.

I liked the cookie so much, I sat and begged for another one!  They are sooooo yummy!

***********

Mommy was not the only one baking this week.  MR also did some baking.

This is what she made:

004

Mommy says it is called a fruit tart.  Mommy said it was really yummy.  I didn’t get any, but that’s okay.  I have lots of cookies!

Tanner
