Pouting!

Mommy says it is Very Very hot outside!

So we can not go out and play after lunch!

I have decided to lay on my futon and pout!!

And I am pretty good at it too!

It's Back! Only smaller this time!

Yes, you are seeing it right!

I am wearing a leash again when I play in the back yard.

I had gotten to play without it for quite a while.

But then it happened!

I started "bursting"

Mommy said I had an "extinction burst"

She said it was sort of like a teenager testing his limits.

I think we just had different plans for my tennis balls.

I wanted to chew them.

And Mommy wanted to throw them.

Anyway, until I am done "bursting" Mommy says the leash stays.

But notice, this time she chose a shorter version.

Itchy!

I have been really itchy lately!

Mommy says I have summer allergies!

I am spending a lot of time scratching!

And rolling around on the floor.

Mommy gives me medicine, year-round.
But when they get really bad like this,
there isn't much else she can do.

I get a bath early next week.  Hopefully that will help some.

Happy Solstice!

Today is the longest day of the year here in the
Northern Hemisphere!

Today is the day with the most hours of sunshine!

And the most hours to P-L-A-Y!

That is what I am doing today.

That, and hiding in the basement to cool off!!

New Collars

Please allow me to take this post to brag about someone who is very important in my life:

My Mommy

Mommy has been hard at work making lots and lots of new collars.

Here are just a few.

This collar is a special order for a Lab friend.
Won't she look pretty in these Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbons?

Mommy says that fur-babies leave Paw Prints in Hu-hearts.
That is why she made this collar.

And these three little collars she made yesterday.
 They are for little fur-babies.
One is red and green.
The other two are Red, White and Blue --
Perfect for the summer holiday season.

So, why is Mommy making so many collars?
She said we are getting ready for a special event.
The Adams' County Winery is having Rusty's Birthday Bash on June 30 and we are going!!

Who is Rusty?
His is the (soon to be) 3 year old Golden Retriever who lives at the winery.
He was a rescue puppy, so every year, the Winery does this event to give back to the Adams' County SPCA.

Mommy is going to donate a collar to the silent raffle that day.  And she and I will also be selling collars and giving a percentage of our sales to the SPCA at the end of the day.

If you live near us, we would love to have you come by.
This is going to be a great day!!

A Rookie Mistake

Mommy and I have been together for a long time.
I came in to Mommy's life when I was 10 weeks old.

We have done a lot of work together.

We have completed three levels of Puppy Manners.

And I earned by Canine Good Citizen Award.

We went to a Rally Event.
And I won a Ribbon.

And we did a Tellington Touch seminar
and learned some good stuff to help me behave better.

So, Mommy and I are no rookies when it comes to training.

But Mommy says what happended to her at the campground was definitely a Rookie Mistake.

Here's what happened.
Like most of the campgrounds that we have visited this year, the latest one had a great place for doggies to exercise and play.

Mommy and Daddy took me to the play area three times each day.
That is my usual schedule.

The field was really big, but it was not fenced.
Daddy held the end of my 50 foot leash
while Mommy threw the tennis balls.

The shadow in the front is Mommy.
She is taking a picture of me, right before it happened.

You see, we were having so much fun.
I was running all over and really getting into playing.
Mommy loves to see me happy.
And she forgot about the leash.
At home, I don't use one anymore.

Mommy made the mistake of stepping on
the wrong side of my leash.
She tossed the ball and I took off after it.

The leash came up around the back of Mommy's legs
and got really tight.
Daddy tried to let go quickly,
But Mommy got "leash burn" behind both of her knees.

Mommy is a bit sore right now,
but she is taking good care of herself.
She says she was "stupid" to let this happen.  She knows better.
And it will never happen again.

I hope she is right.

On the Rocks

After our night in the hotel, we picked up the camper and went to a nice KOA.

Mommy and Daddy let me spend some time outside with them.

They sat on the concrete pad under the awning.

I chose another place.

I chose the gravel between the campsites.

It was so comfy, I took a nap!

A Place to Play!

We had a really good night at the hotel.

Mommy, Daddy and I slept very well.

This is what I did to my blankets during the night.

Mommy spread them out, but I wanted them curled up!

After a good night of sleep, I got to go out and play!!!

We found a very safe place between the buildings of the hotel.
It was a big, open, grassy space.

We used my 50 foot leash.
Daddy held the end while.....

Mommy threw the tennis balls for me to chase!

After our play time, I needed to cool down.
So, I went in the bathroom and laid on the tile floor.

And Daddy curled up on the couch and got to work.

We will be spending the day at the hotel today.
We are waiting for the camper to be fixed.
Then we are off to a campground!

More tomorrow.

On the Road Again!

Mommy, Daddy and I are taking another trip.

The camper needed to have some work done.  So, we took it back the the place where we bought it.  And we went and spent the night here:

We went to a hotel.
I have stayed in a hotel one time before.
It was about a year ago.
Mommy took me to the T-touch seminar
and she and I stayed overnight.

But, since then, I have not been anywhere
but home and the camper.

So, I had to check everything out.
The room had a nice couch.

And a BIG bed for Mommy and Daddy!

And this was the view out our window!

Boy, that pool looks like fun!
Even though I have never been swimming,
I would sure love to try it!

Some of my favorite things came along with us.
These are my blankets from the bedroom at home.
Mommy put them right beside her side of the big bed.
I guesss this is where I am supposed to sleep tonight.

And two of my favorite toys also came along.
The blue piece is a Tuff toy that I have loved
almost into non-existence.

And the Nyla-chew is one that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE
to chew!

We also brought along something I have not seen in a while.
This is my porta-crate.
Mommy and Daddy brought it "just-in-case."

But, as you can tell, I didn't seem to need it.
I was able to relax right in the middle of the floor.

Well, it has been a long day, so I think I will get some sleep.
More about our trip on Thursday.

The Flute Player

I met a special person during my last Pow-wow visit.

I don't know his name, but I really liked what he did.

He was a flute player.

He came to visit with Mommy and me
while we were eating lunch at the Pow-wow.

I enjoyed the music that came from the flute!
It reminded me of the calming music that
Mommy plays for me at home!

The music made me relax.
Mommy said we will have to play some flute music the next
time I get excited.

Mommy even took a short video of the music and how I reacted.
Hope you like it.

The Veteran's Pow-wow

Last weekend, we visited a Pow-wow that honored Veterans.

Mommy says that Veterans are important people.
They have put on special clothes and done a special job so that we can be free.

Mommy says they should be honored.

I had a good time at the Pow-wow!

I met a LOT of people.  And got petted by most of them!
I behaved really well.
I turned so that people could pet me.

And I laid down when Mommy and Daddy stopped to visit
with their friends.

A lot of people came to dance at the Pow-wow!
We watched from a nice shady picnic table.

We had a really nice time! And the weather was beautiful!

I Love going to Pow-wows with Mommy and Daddy!
