Guard Dog

Mommy says I would not make a good guard dog
because I am so very friendly.

But, I beg to differ.

Mommy and Daddy have two places in the house
where they like to sit to watch TV in the evenings.

One place is our living room.
The living room has the front door.
I wanted to make sure Mommy and Daddy were not disturbed while they watched TV.
So.....

I took my evening nap right in front of the door.

Yes!
I just sprawled out on the cool floor and blocked anyone from getting near Mommy and Daddy.

Nobody is getting past me!!!
Nobody!!

Time to Change!

Memorial Day!
The "un-official" start of Summer!

(just between you and me, it has been so warm around here, I think summer didn't get the memo!)

But I got off track.

Yesterday was the day to remember all of the people who gave their lives so that I could have this blog.
Thank you to everyone who sacrificed for our freedom!!

It was also the day that I changed collars.

Mommy took off my "winter collar"
that I have been wearing since January.
(By the way, this was also my first beaded collar.)

And put on my "Summer collar".

Mommy says I look really festive in my "Stars and Stripes".
I just won't hold still so she can get a picture.
I would rather she take photos of my face than my neck.

Baker's Assistant

There have been a lot of special celebrations in our family lately.
Mommy (and Meg) have been doing a lot of baking lately.
It used to be, when Mommy used the mixer and the oven, it was to make cookies for me.

Don't get me wrong. Mommies homemade cookies are super yummy!
But what they are making now is even better.

Two weeks ago, MJ (my hu-brother) graduated from college.

I didn't get to go to the ceremony.
But, Meg, Mommy and Daddy did.

But what I did get to do was help make the cake!!!

This is MJ's finished cake.
And here's how we did it.

First, Mommy baked a REALLY big cake!
She used one of Meg's recipes.
But she made a 'mistake'.
It was a really yummy mistake.
She says she used egg whites instead of whole eggs.
But that made the cake light, fluffy and yummy!

Then, Mommy took a big knife and leveled the cake.
This part will be the bottom.

For some crazy reason, she threw the piece she cut-off
into the trash can.
I got a small taste.
But all that yummy cake in the garbage?
So sad!

Mommy took the big knife again and cut the cake into layers.
She put some really yummy filling in the cake.
She said it was chocolate, so I could not have a taste.
Bummer!

I kept an eye on Mommy the whole time she was working.
She was moving so fast, my head-shot is blurry.

Then came the frosting!

Lots and lots of yummy, white, sweetness!!!

Mommy let me have a taste (or two, or three) from her finger!
But I could not lick the cake.
She had it so close to the edge of the table.
It was hard to resist!

But, Mommy said I was a very good boy because I did!

Congratulations, MJ!!!
Mommy, Daddy and I are Super Proud of you!!

One Word Wednesday -- Gotcha!

It is no secret that I love to play with Tennis Balls.
So, Mommy makes sure there are always some around to entertain me.

Here I am playing at the Doggy Park where we stayed last weekend.

Gotcha!!!

Ontelaunne Pow-wow Visit

Or camping trip this past weekend had three purposes.

1) get away and relax

Check!

2) Let Mommy and Daddy go to an Iron Pigs' Baseball game to hear Ellen's choir sing.
(more on that later)

&

3) Visit another Pow-wow.

That will be today's topic.
Mommy took lots and lots of pictures, so I can tell you all about it!

This is how my visit to the pow-wow started!
While Mommy and Daddy got raffle tickets, I laid down at Mommy's feet.
Mommy said I was a really good boy!

The pow-wow was in a big, sunny park.
There were lots of people selling things, dancing and watching.

We walked all over and met lots of people.

This is a friend of Mommy's.  She took some time to pet me.

And this is a 'drum team'.  These nice ladies played the drum and sang so the people could dance.
I really liked their music.

There were also a lot of good things to smell.
Hey, these smell like the things Mommy has a home in our workroom!
These are things I know I am not supposed to eat.

But this place smelled like something I could eat!

And it was!!!  This is what Mommy and I got for lunch!

I curled up under the table while Mommy started eating.
She only wanted the meat and the beans, so I got to eat the yummy, juicy roll!!

It made me so thirsty.  But I didn't want to get up to get my drink!

After lunch, we watched some more dancing.  Then we did a bit more shopping.
The stand that I like the best was the last one that we visited!
They had lots and lots and lots of great.......

Dog Chews!
Well, I thought they were dog chews.
But Mommy said I could only smell these.

And sniff them, I did!

Luckily, at the other side of the shop, they had a box marked
"Dog Chews."
Mommy picked out two for me.
She said I can have them as a treat when she is watching me.

I had a lot of fun at the Pow-wow.
And Mommy said I was a really good boy!
Everytime we stopped to see people or look at something,
I laid down.
Mommy really liked that!
She said I will get to go to a lot more pow-wows
if I keep being this good!

The Doggy Park

When Mommy picks a campground for us, one of the first things she looks for is a Doggy Park.
This year, we have been to two campgrounds and both a nice Doggy Parks.

This is the one that we are staying at in A-town.

The park is right off of the parking lot
near the entrance to the camp.
It is sparated from the road by a row of trees.

And, like most parks,
they have poop bags and a trash can at the entrance.

But, unlike the last park, this one had some special equipment.

They had a tunnel.

And a ramp.

They even had big stone paw prints in the grass.
(I don't think I want to meet the doggy that made those)

And a funny looking 'fire hydrant'.

And I got to play.... a Lot!
Here I am with Daddy!

Daddy has a good throwing arm.
I really had to run to catch the tennis ball.
You might also notice that I am dragging a leash too.

Mommy and Daddy we a bit concerned because this park is
not fenced.
And the road is just on the other side of the tree line.
They wanted to be able to catch me if they needed to.

All in all, this is another good Doggy Park.
Thanks, Mommy, for finding it and bringing me here.

At Camp!

Mommy says I am getting pretty good at traveling!
I look pretty comfy in the back of the truck!
I like to lay down as we ride.
And I am pretty content knowing Mommy is driving and Daddy is by her side.

But last night, I just could not seem to settle down at camp.

Mommy and Daddy took me to the doggy park twice and I just could not seem to settle.

And I just did not want to leave Mommy's side!
I did sleep last night.
And this morning I got my Kong for breakfast.

Then we went to the Doggy Park again.
(I'll tell you about that later).
And right now, I am taking a nap.

Yes, I am on the bench of the Dinette.
Mommy took this picture from under the table.

Another Camping Weekend!

Mommy, Daddy and I are headed out again for a long weekend in the camper.
This time, the trip will include a Pow-wow visit for all of us, and a baseball game for Mommy and Daddy.

Unfortunately, this is not a "Bark in the Park" game, so I can't go to that part.  I will have to stay alone in the camper.  But, I think I will be okay.

Mommy plans to tire me out at the doggy park at the campground and at the Pow-wow.

I'll be sure to post photos when we get home.

Monday Mischief

It all started out very nicely!
Honest is did!
And Mommy has the pictures to prove it!

Mommy had some errands to run on Friday.
Along the way, she stopped at some yard sales.
She brought home some new 'models' for her collar.
But.... They are stuffies!  So, I thought they were for me.

To make me happy, Mommy gave me a penguin
that she had in a box for me.
As you can see, it has a christmas hat,
so Mommy has had it for a while.

Mommy was amazed when I layed down and chewed gently on
my new toy!
I usually just rip and tear.

Mommy said this was so unlike me, she had to take pictures.

I didn't even chew up the squeekers.
I just put them beside the toy and kept playing.

But, then, IT happened.
The urge overtook me and...
Well, the penquin is history.

And I can't say that I am not proud of myself for doing it.
It was fun.
And I didn't touch the new collar models.
So, I think I did really well.

Tanner
