Velcro Dog and Carpet issues

Yesterday, on our evening walk, Mommy and I met some really nice people.  They said they also had a Golden Retriever and they asked if they could pet me.  Mommy of course said yes!

I did pretty well.  I didn’t jump on them, so they let me see the little boy in the stroller too.

While Mommy was talking, the lady mentioned something that Mommy had never heard.  The nice lady said that her GR was a “Velcro Dog”.  She went on to explain that her dog is stuck by her side all the time.

Mommy said, that sort of describes me.  I want Mommy’s attention all the time.  I don’t like to be away from her, and I love to be close.

This is how I took a nap yesterday afternoon.  I will do anything to stay close to her.

And I will do anything to get her attention too!!  Even tear at the carpet in the studio where we spend most of our days.

Now, to be fair, Mommy says I should tell you this carpet is old and was frayed when I moved in.  But, I have been doing some more fraying on my own.

The carpet in the Studio is two pieces of old carpet that have been there since Mommy and Daddy bought the house.  The edges are really raggedy.

I figured out that if I scratch at the edges, I can get long strings to come off.  It is a lot of fun and it gets Mommy to stop what she is doing and pay attention to me.  I am in trouble, but I have her attention.

Mommy does not want me to do this.  So, she coated the edges with mouthwash.  It tastes yucky on my paws.

I am not digging quite as much.  Mommy hopes this phase will pass soon.

Puppy Kisses,

Tanner

  1. there is just something sooooo tempting about those little bits of frayed carpet. At least your mom has only you velcro'd to her - my Mom has three of around her feet!

  2. Yep, why be a dog if you can't be a velcro dog?? Ain't that the point? To be close to your human?? Right now our mom has three dogs laying on her and at her feet. She doesn't mind so much though. Neither do we.

  4. Hi Tanner,

I thought they wanted us to stick to them? No? I love to be close to my Mum too, outside the office is ok with the door open, cos that's tiled and I prefer that, but if I hear the light switch go off I jump up as I know we're on the move......

I generally only bug Mum when she's not ready to go running in the morning and I am! I'm kinda always ready! I find stealing things works best to get Mum's attention, I usually have to bring them to show her as she doesn't notice otherwise!

    Have fun buddy,

    Your pal Snoopy :)

  5. Nothing wrong with being a Velcro dog Tanner. Mouthwash huh? It does taste yucky!

  6. Goldens like to be close - that's one of the great things about them. :)

Henry's laying under the desk at my feet as I type this. If I'm reading on the sofa with my feet curled up beside me, Zachary will be laying there with me with his head on my feet. Henry will be laying ON Zachary, with his paws on my leg and his head in my lap.

Ah yes, gotta love 'em. :)

  7. I have one velcro dog (Lola) and one not-at-all-velcro dog (Jess). It's a million times easier to get Lola to come back outside, because she wants to be near me all the time, but I trip over her quite a lot! Be glad you're so big so your mum can actually see you, Tanner!

  8. If we’re going to use the Velco enology, than my 2 Shih Tzu boys are Velco that has been compromised by lint particles and overuse.

There are times when they are clinging all the time and other times when they off in another part of the house for short spurts of time before attaching to my heels again.

  9. Hey silly, don't eat those strings or bad things could happen, and you're too good looking for that!

  10. Tanner! Oh my gosh, mouthwash? How super yucky! I'm kinda attached to my family -- whenever someone gets up and leaves the room, I always follow them. But that's only because I love them and want to be near them like ALL the time. :)

But I'm doing really well with some new stuff... stay tuned for tomorrow... muahaha

    Woofs & hugs, <3
