Monthly Weigh In

 

Can you believe that June is almost over?  It is the end of the month and Mommy wanted to take me to the Vet to check my weight.

Mommy’s car is a lot bigger than Daddy’s.

I wasn’t really sure how to get in.  Mommy had to help me a bit!

But, I made it and boy, is it a comfy seat!!  But it is high up!!

When we got to the Vet, I was anxious to go inside.

Mommy put me on the scale, and this is what it said!!!

I have gained 11 lbs since I had my surgery!!

I even got to see my favorite Vet Tech, C.

It was a great trip!!

Now for a nap!

One Word Wednesday–Blanket

I’m not real fond of them when they are in my crate.  They make a great pillow and an even better chew toy!!

New Trick Tuesday!

Mommy and I have been working really hard at my trick training.  Mommy says it is because she used to homeschool Meg and MJ.  They are grown up now and I am her #1 student!  And we are having a blast!!!

One of my favorite tricks is called “Take & Carry”.  This was Marta’s idea.  But Mommy chose the basket that I am carrying.  I can walk beside Mommy and carry it for a bit right now, as well as pose for this really cute photo!

This trick, Mommy calls “Tub”.  She went to the store and got a 7 gallon stainless steel bucket and put carpet on the bottom.  My job is to get up on it and either sit or turn around.

I have a lot more trick in the practice stage.   Mommy and I love to play.  Now that she knows how to use a video editor, she says she will shoot more and let me post them.  I think I will make this a weekly thing.  Every Tuesday will be a new trick!!

Party Time!!

This weekend, I went with Mommy and Daddy, and Aunt J, Uncle D, Cousins E & K…. and a special surprise guest… to Rusty’s Birthday Bash at the winery!!  We had a Pawsome time.

It was a pretty long drive.  And of course, I had to sit in the back seat.

I got a bit bored in the car.  And so did Mommy.  That’s why she took this fun photo of me.  She had to get into a really funny position to get it.  That is probably why I am smiling so pretty!

When the car finally stopped, I got excited!!  I didn’t know what to expect, but Mommy said it would be fun and there would not be any horses this time!!

Guess what?  Mommy was wrong!!  The first thing we saw was a HORSE!  There was a lady there who wrote a book about a horse and she was signing the books.  She had the horse there for people to meet.  I was happy to see that the horse was still in her car.

Rusty had all sorts of neat things at his birthday party.  We got a map when we pulled into the parking area!

  They even had an obstacle course.  We got there a bit too late to enter the contest, but Mommy said we will be sure to do that next year!

Our first stop was some lunch for the people.  Here is Aunt J. with her Cajun french fries.  She said they were pretty good!!  I didn’t get any of those.  I just got some dog treats.  But they were good too!!

While we were eating, the Birthday Boy came wandering through the tent!  Yes, that is Rusty.  Doing what dogs do best, Begging!

After lunch, we went on a tour of the winery.  No place was off limits to me and my other canine friends!  This is our tour guide in the colorful shirt.  He is also a wine maker!

I made a new friend on the tour.  This is More Love.  He is a therapy dog who loves to go to the library and read with kids!  We sat on the concrete floor while the tour guide talked about the wine stuff to the people.

The concrete felt sooooo good, I had to just splay out and put my head on Daddy’s foot!

Here’s some of the stuff we saw on the tour.  I have no idea what all of it is, or what is does, but Mommy and Daddy seemed to have a good time. 

Remember that special guest I mentioned earlier???  Well, here she is.  My beautiful cousin, Annie.  Yes, Aunt J and Uncle D brought Annie along for the day.  We had such a good time together.

Infact, while everyone else was doing something called “tasting”, this is what Annie and I did.  It was a pawsome nap.  A cool concrete floor and a warm friend, with Mommy and Daddy close by.

After my nap, oh, I mean the tasting, we went and got our picture taken.  This is Mommy and Daddy and Me in the center.  Mommy says it is really good that I know my name.  That’s how they got me to look at the camera.  This is a label that they had put on some of the wine that we bought.

And, yes, Rusty did have cake at his party.  Mommy shared this super yummy piece with me!

I had soooo much fun at Rusty’s Birthday party.  I just could not stay awake on the way home.  I can’t wait to go again next year!!

Tomorrow will be “New Trick Tuesday”.  I can’t wait to show you what I have been working on!

Fun at Clicker Class

We have been having internet issues at our house.  Our ISP has been less than dependable for the past week.  That is why I have not been able to post much this week.

But, be sure that I have kept busy, and kept Mommy busy.  We are taking our walks, having our training time and play time and still going to two classes a week.

I think my favorite class is on Wednesday night.  That is my Clicker Tricks class.  We are all getting excited because we are trying to put together some tricks for “The Blessing of the Beasts” this fall.

Marta would like us to learn to do the wave.  This is (right to left) Lucy, Magnum, Gretchen and Flueri practicing with their Mommies.  (I sat this one out because I was getting really tired.  8pm classes are really tough for me!)

We have a fun day with family planned for tomorrow. 

We are going to Bert’s Birthday Bash at the Adams County Winery!!

Hopefully we will bring back lots of great pictures of me and Mommy having fun!!!

Birthday Nummies!

Yesterday was my 7-month birthday!  I had to wait until evening to get my treats because Mommy and Daddy had to go away for a bit during the day.  But it was SOOOO worth waiting for.

Here is what I got!

Mommy started with one of my bacon cookies in the shape of a paw!

Then, she spread on some nummie peanut butter genache that she had made!

And, on top, she put some Whipped Cream!!!!  I sat beside her and drooled while she fixed my treat!

Mommy took my bowl, with my treat and sat it when I usually eat.  I had to Sit and Watch!!!

Here is what I would have looked like from my treat’s point of view, if my treat had eyes!  (Now that is something to think about the next time you are just laying around, isn’t it?)

When I got to eat, I licked all the whipped cream off first!!

Then, I took my time and licked all the Peanut Butter Genache off of the cookie.

 

It was so Nummie and stickie, that it took me a minute or two to get all of it.

Then, I stole the cookie from the bowl and went into the living room to eat it.  (but is it really stealing if it is in my bowl?  I don’t think so!!)

After the Nummies, I got my dinner and a nice walk.  It was a great 7-month Birthday!!!

Today I am 7 Months old!

MJ did the math this morning (better him than me).  He says I am now about 4 years old in people years.  Mommy says my party will be later today.  I have already gotten a special breakfast treat – peanut butter granola in my breakfast bowl.  But the real goodies will come with supper. 

So, till then, Mommy thought I should share some videos with you.  The first one is me checking out a special box that Mommy keeps in “Our room” (that is the place where Mommy makes all the crafty stuff and I sleep on the futon).  Mommy keeps the ready-to-wear collars in this box, but I could swear I smell food in it.

The second video is Mommy and me playing tug.  I don’t get too rough with Mommy.  She isn’t much bigger than me, so I have to be careful.

Happy Birthday, Bailey!!!

Today, one of my BFF’s is celebrating!!  Today is her 1st Birthday!!! 

I think she looks super good!!!  For an older girl!

Go Get It!

Now that I have passed level III and have my CGC, Mommy and I are trying to decide what doggie sports we want to try.  We are working on learning some Rally moves at class on Thursday night.  And we are learning some “tricks” at Clicker Class on Wednesday.

I have perfected my “Paws-up”

In fact, I do it so well, we have added “Pray”

Oh, I should also mention that my favorite stool to do this trick on is one that wiggles!!  Mommy wants to teach me to put all 4 paws on the stool.  But this one is a bit scary.  We need to get one that stays stiller. (is that a word?)

I am also learning a new game called “Go Get it”.

Step 1:  I have to sit, look at Mommy, and wait……

Step 2:  Mommy throws my fetch toy.  Usually she throws it into the dining room.  If you look closely, you will see the green toy behind the chair that is closest to the window.

Step 3:  When, and only when Mommy says “Go Get It”, I get to go and get my toy.

Step 4:  Before I give it back to Mommy, I like to make sure it is dead!

Step 5:  Sometimes, I don’t want to “Drop” right away and Mommy has to offer me a treat to get the toy.  (Aren’t I just a smart puppy?  I know how to get an extra treat!).
Step 6:  The whole thing starts again.
 
Most times, I sit and stay really well, but sometimes it is just toooooo tempting to go right after my toy.  Mommy says this game is teaching me some self-control.  I don’t know why I need that, but I am sure I will understand soon.
