Go Get It!

Now that I have passed level III and have my CGC, Mommy and I are trying to decide what doggie sports we want to try.  We are working on learning some Rally moves at class on Thursday night.  And we are learning some “tricks” at Clicker Class on Wednesday.

I have perfected my “Paws-up”
002
In fact, I do it so well, we have added “Pray”
001
Oh, I should also mention that my favorite stool to do this trick on is one that wiggles!!  Mommy wants to teach me to put all 4 paws on the stool.  But this one is a bit scary.  We need to get one that stays stiller. (is that a word?)

I am also learning a new game called “Go Get it”.
006
Step 1:  I have to sit, look at Mommy, and wait……
007
Step 2:  Mommy throws my fetch toy.  Usually she throws it into the dining room.  If you look closely, you will see the green toy behind the chair that is closest to the window.
008
Step 3:  When, and only when Mommy says “Go Get It”, I get to go and get my toy.
010
Step 4:  Before I give it back to Mommy, I like to make sure it is dead!
012
Step 5:  Sometimes, I don’t want to “Drop” right away and Mommy has to offer me a treat to get the toy.  (Aren’t I just a smart puppy?  I know how to get an extra treat!).
Step 6:  The whole thing starts again.
004
Most times, I sit and stay really well, but sometimes it is just toooooo tempting to go right after my toy.  Mommy says this game is teaching me some self-control.  I don’t know why I need that, but I am sure I will understand soon.
Hope you have a great day playing with your family today.  I know I will.
Puppy Kisses,
Tanner

My BFF Bailey is turning 1 year old tomorrow. We are joining in the celebration.
Happy Birthday, Bailey!!!

  1. That is great work, Tanner. Have your hoo-mans considered agility training? We wuf that in our home. Our Rose Bud has been through her first round of classes and loved it!!! Mom's just recently heard about 'rally' and has been wondering how to get involved. We'll have to work hard to train her, but we know we can do it!!

  2. Your tricks are awesome, Tanner! I love the pray trick -- I'm gonna need to learn that one. :)

I know how to "go get it," except we call it "bring it." No one has to tell me to bring it often... I usually end up dropping stuff on everyone's lap anyway. teehee!

    Thanks for joining my party!

    Woofs & hugs,

  3. OOOH Rally-O is a lot of fun! It's a lot more funner than Obedience. Too bad we have no Rally in Malaysia. Anyhoo, congrats on perfecting your "paws up" trick!

If you'd like to learn how to put all fours on a stool, it'll be best if you start out by using a tub 1st like the one in Megan's dance video. My hoomie just bought a simple tub that is big enough for us & that is also not easily breakable. She sewed some old cloth onto it so that we will have some good grip on it (or you could just place one of those non-slip rubber thingies on top of it so that you won't slip off of it). Once you've learned how to put all fours on the tub, you can then start using tubs that are much smaller in diameter. You will definitely need some confidence to learn this trick. If anytime you're having trouble placing you back feet onto it, your hoomie can help you out a bit by carrying your back end & placing them onto the tub for you. That's how hoomie Melissa taught River to go on top of that blue tub with all fours. :-)

Anyway, good luck with the training!

  4. hey Tanner,

Congratulations on doing such a great job in training! You look so majestic doing "Paws-Up", and you look extremely sweet doing "Pray." :->

"Go Get It" looks pawsomely fun! And you seem to have it down perfect! But of course, you should still keep practicing all you can! :->

  5. Ahhh "fetch"! One of our favorite games!

(Psst--Tanner the faster you give it back, the quicker you get to go get it again! ;-))

  6. Nice moves there - I especially like how you have to kill the toy before bringing it back to Momma. Finn completely understands!
