I’m Back!!

I gave Mommy and Daddy a big scare on Wednesday night!

I know I told you that I had to spend the day at the VET on Monday.  Mommy says I had something called a ‘neuter’ with something called a ‘cryptorchid’.  Basically, it means I have two incisions instead on one.

I really like to lick my owies, so Mommy put me in a cone when she can not watch me.

Mommy didn’t like the cone a lot because I could not see and kept running into her.

So, on Wednesday, she went and got this for me to try.

This is an inflatable collar.  And I also got a great granola chew.   It had a bit of rawhide in the center, and the good news is that this time I didn’t get sick from the rawhide.

The bad news is, I still could reach my owies.  So Mommy had to put the cone back on.

Well, on Wednesday night, I started to have some icky drainage from my top wound.  Mommy and Daddy rushed me to the ER Vet 45 minutes from home.  They checked me out and said I had an infection.  They gave me two shots and some pills to take and sent me home to see my vet in the morning.  Dr. L said I would probably need surgery to clean out the owies.

Mommy and I slept on the floor together because she was afraid that even with the collar, I could still get to my owies.  Neither Mommy nor I slept a lot on Wednesday.

Thursday morning, Mommy tried to reach our Vet.  It was his day off, so the receptionist told us to call another vet in the area.  Dr. J was really nice.  He looked at my owies and also said I would probably need surgery to clean out my owies.  But Mommy said she would rather wait, if we could and try some medicine with me.  Dr. J. gave  Mommy two medicine and sent us home to rest.

Mommy and I slept most of the day laying on the floor in the living room.  Then, at bed time, Mommy made a bed on the bedroom floor again and slept beside me.

We saw my vet this morning.  Dr. A. said I looked really good!!  My owies are not swollen nearly as much and everything is healing well!!!  So, he sent me home with no surgery!!!  I am still taking all the medicine.  But I am eating like a horse and moving all over the house.

So, to all of you, this might just seem like another picture of me.  But to Mommy, it is the best picture she has seen in a long time!!!  She said she loves to share her breakfast with me!  And boy do I love apple slices!

I still have to wear the cone when Mommy can’t watch me, but I am doing a lot better.  Thanks everyone for all your great thoughts and prayers!

And tomorrow, I will tell you where my “Wordless Wednesday” photo was taken.  You all had such fun guesses.

Puppy Kisses,

Tanner

  2. Man Tanner, so glad you are alright. I just love my vet, he is so cool but I don't want to see him more than I have to so I try to stay away from bothering my boo boos. but sometimes you just can't help it can you. I mean, they itch and it feels so much better when you take care of the itch. At least until you have to go back to the ver.

Take care and hurry and get healed.

    Love

  9. hey Tanner,

What a very scary situation! You mom is amazing and so caring to sleep with you and watch over you as she did. We are SO furry happy you were able to heal without surgery. That is so pawsome! You are a special pup, and much loved!

p.s. the blow-up collar looks pawsome, and much better than a cone. :->
